See a Reproductive Endocronologist at an IVF (in vitro fertilization) clinic. It is possible to freeze your eggs but it is harder to do that than to freeze fertilized eggs/embryos. Not every RE will be able to do it but some can.
Some things you may want to consider before having this done:
- at age 42 many of your eggs may not have normal DNA anymore. I was 31 when I had my eggs retrieved for IVF and my RE told me that even at my age, an average of 50% of fertilized embryos do not have the correct DNA to make it to full term — either they will not implant at all or they will stop growing in the first trimester. At 42 the percentage is going to be significantly higher, especially if they are saying you are going into menopause which may mean you are at the end of your egg supply.
- at age 42 and going into early menopause, it may be difficult to stimulate your ovaries to get eggs, and you may not get very many. They typically retrieve 10-20 eggs per IVF attempt for the average woman. For women with lower ovarian reserve the number could be as low as 4 to 6. When you add in the first factor, that the DNA in many of the eggs may not be normal, you lower your chances of your eggs eventually producing children.
- Keep in mind that for women aged 41-42 going through IVF, live birth rate is 11% per IVF cycle started. It’s definitely possible, but the statistics are not that encouraging.
