Proctologist or gastronologist. If they can’t get you in quickly, do the ER or Urgent Care.

A Proctologist is a doctor you would want to see. This type of doctor specializes in diseases and disorders of the rectum and anus. It sounds like you have internal hemorrhoids. These type of hemorrhoids come with no pain or discomfort, just rectal bleeding. You can just go to the ER for this or go see your physician and tell them you suspect that you have internal hemorrhoids.

Probably a gastroenterologist. They deal with the digestive tract. I don’t know why you’re getting bounced around–rectal bleeding can be a sign of a very serious problem. My mom had rectal bleeding because she has endometriosis that wrapped around and through her intestines. She found out from the gynecologist, but since it was in her intestines, she could have found out from a gastroenterologist as well.
Just go to the E.R. if nobody will listen and tell them that you’re bleeding–bleeding or chest pain goes first in triage as long as somebody isn’t bleeding from a chest wound or something. That sucks that you’re getting bounced around. Stand up for yourself because sometimes people won’t take you seriously, but you know your body and you know when something’s wrong. Good luck getting it figured out.

You need to call a doctor that will listen to you, your concerns, and make sure you have tests lined up before you leave his or her office.
Forget about looking for some “ologist”. Call your family doctor or ask a friend or family member for a referral. Get a phone book and call a general practice physican. Whatever you do… DO IT NOW!

Do you have a regular MD that you see or do you only go to rheumatologist? If not, you may need to go there first, to get referrals to see a specialist (depending on your insurance plan), as some specialists won’t see anyone without a referral from their doctor. You may need a proctologist, but you may have some internal problems in your colon that should be checked. If this is not hemorrhoidal bleeding, it could be from within the colon, or a tear in your colon. Have you had your blood levels checked, like for anemia (not iron deficiency, but for blood loss)? Have you had a hemocult test?
This is cause for concern as it’s not normal to have any rectal bleeding, its a symptom of something wrong, whether its dietary caused, or internal.
Not to scare you-I promise-but I began bleeding rectally suddenly at 30yrs, and my Dr never took me serious, and I ended up in ICU, almost in shock from loss of blood. My problem – not necessarily yours – was that I had a tumor that had grown large enough to tear into my colon. 19ys ago, and chemo and surgery worked for my cancer, so it IS doable! But to get back to your question, colon polyps etc can cause rectal bleeding, and tests do need to be done if only to rule out larger problems, maybe with a proctologist. Be persistant with your problem, and stay positive if news is bad, as a negative outlook doesnt help you heal. This I know from experience. Good luck!

proctologist You should see one as soon as possible. Could be any number of things, from the benign to serious. Only a doctor could tell you for sure.

bleeding anywhere from any part is serious, and has local causes or remote general causes. even after seeing superspecialists u r in this helpless state? which country r u in?. just make friend with ur own nearby family doctor/physician. be patient. # simple albendazole 400 mg ovfer the counter one every 3 days for 6 tabs is safe try..we have simple amebiasis giving the bleed. ask the doc gently. #fresh red blood causes are very much local and not from the upper gut..# i am a india family doc who trets all all all, and refers few to the exact ologist. i sympathise with u, cos i see the present doc over the world are cautioned to be wary on guard, not take any responsibility for the life of the patient.
